We were only there a week, but we sure packed a lot into our trip. And typically we have at least one bout of sickness during our trips, but thankfully we remained well the entire time and got in every last playdate that we could! It was awesome.
My brother Jeff was home visiting so we got to spend lots of time with him. Though I am glad he lives in Philly now, so that at least we are driving distance from each other.
Grammy definitely got her baby fix, even though she was in her very busy and tiring first week of school. Those are some lucky preschoolers!Grandpa Bob and Kari came over and brought loads of ice cream for all the grandkids.
My kids loved reuniting with all their cousins after a year apart, since we moved and they lived in Houston for a year.
Baking with Grammy.
My good friend from high school, Pernel. So glad she got to meet Jackson.
And my boys loved playing with her little guy, Olin. So many boys!
We were also able to go to the cemetery to remember Grandma Clare (Pete's mom) on her birthday.
A sweet lifelong neighbor of mine always gifts my boys with stools with their names on them. Jackson's had just arrived. These stools are amazing and with the puzzle piece letters, that is how they learn to spell their names. Austin doesn't know much going into preschool, but he can identify the letters in his name thanks to the stool.
Parker made sure to prioritize a playdate at our favorite park with Carter. Friends since birth. Look at those cute blondies.
His mom, Becky, was my college roomie and now we have 6 kids between us. So much fun.
And no trip would be complete without a trip to the preschool. Getting some love from his Hipster Gram, Mona.
And how can we forget Sadie. Love these friends who pick up right where they left off.
Jackson loves his Papa. We skyped the other day and Jackson got very expressive when he heard Papa's voice.
Grandpa Bob.
Cousin Clare.
Sadie and Bennett.
My boys were stinkers and didn't want to go outside much (in their defense there was a crazy heat wave), but on the last day, Papa finally convinced them to go on a walk on the trail. They had a blast and came back with plenty of sticks:)
On our second trip to Orange County, the boys went with Papa, Chloe and Jeff to Knott's Berry Farm. They had a blast.
Papa is a pro at squeezing onto kiddie rides.
And now so is Jeff.
And my dear friend Audrey flew in from San Fran just minutes before I had to leave for the airport! Amazing. My trip was complete.
I love how the elevation knocks the babies out. He slept most of the way.
Traveling circus.
During our layover, we basically killed time in an empty hallway. We ate at Ruby's diner, played on the tablets, ran races, I taught them how to swing dance, and used the bathroom about 500 times (gotta love potty training... but at least Austin has finally gotten over the hump and is officially in underwear!).
And Jackson just cooed and looked cute. He didn't mind the wait.
It was sad saying goodbye, but I feel so blessed that so many people got their "baby fix" and got to meet Jackson. That helps my guilt a little bit:)
Aside from the crazy layover in Houston and getting in at 3:00am, we made it back home in one piece.
Pete left at 4:30am for his 1/2 marathon and we woke up at 7am to go cheer him on. So tiring, but so worth it.
Wow, impressive, thorough blog post! Love it!
