We had the privilege of attending the wedding of one of Pete's work colleagues. It was so nice of her to invite us, especially since the guest list was already at 600 people! It was a Caldean wedding, which I have come to learn are very large and elaborate. It was such a neat experience attending the ceremony performed in Arabic and seeing their beautiful church with brightly colored stained glass. The attire was very fancy. I played it safe with my black dress, but next time you better believe I'm going all out in a bedazzled floor length gown. Amazing.
Holly looked so happy with her new husband. She is the sweetest person and we are so thrilled that she found someone to spend her life with. Her dress covered in crystals on top was amazing. The ballroom at the Sheraton on Harbor Island was one of the only ballrooms in San Diego that can accommodate a reception of that size. I guess most Caldeans choose between one of three venues for their receptions:) It was beautiful. The lights, the draperies, the ornate flowers, the live band playing their traditional music, the cultural dances... everything was top notch. We had fun meeting some new people at our table. Dancing was a major focus of the night... as hundreds of people engaged in a a circle dance around the dance floor. Dinner was delicious (starting be served at 10:45pm and finishing around 11:45pm). We took off at that point, but there was no sign of the fun ending for anyone else.
Such a great location. Nothing beats the San Diego skyline.
Some of the elaborate dresses. Beautiful.
Bridesmaids were all in green. Made for very gorgeous photos.
The entrance...
Just a little cake...
What a fun night, and thanks to my parents for keeping the boys!
Random trivia: one of the other sites that can accommodate them is the hotel I work for. We book many Caldean weddings each year. =)
