Our first few days

Bright and early Monday morning we headed off to Parker's new preschool. It's not too far from our new house, but we are staying at the Navy lodge near the base while we are waiting for our stuff to arrive, so we had a little trek ahead of us. Parker was very excited and looked dapper in his collared shirt from Grammy. He also had a new rocket lunch box that had his name on it. Very cute.

Austin was excited to wear his teddy bear hood:) The weather here looks cold, but it's actually humid and moderate most days.

Parker's teacher is very nice and reminds me a lot of my mom. Mrs. Vaughn welcomed Parker and all the other kids were expecting him as well. So thankful that we could start right away, so we can benefit from making new friends and having a schedule 3 days a week.
In front of the church part of the school. He will also be learning some Spanish there (like 1/2 hour a week). Sometimes he is excited about that, and sometimes he mutters, "Ughhh... I don't want to go to the Spanish school." But every day I pick him up, he rambles on about what a great day he had.
After school on Monday, we went in search of a car for me. I knew the time had come for a mini-van. We went to one dealership and couldn't make a deal with them, so then we went to another one that had the car we wanted. Our only specifications were Honda Odyssey and leather seats. What we ended up with was a 2011 Odyssey, leather, bluetooth, and dvd player, among other fancy technologies. The specs online didn't list the dvd player, so that wasn't factored into the price. But when we got there and they realized the mistake, they knew they couldn't re-nig on the quote. Bonus. After a very smooth test drive, I was sold and the price was right. Man it takes a long time to buy a car. Just when we thought we were close to the end of paperwork, we were escorted to another room. Four hours later, I drove away in my swagger wagon! I love it. I still need to read the manual more to learn some of the tricks and features, but so far it's awesome. We have set up rules for the dvd player (that thing is a blessing and a curse), but hopefully the novelty will also wear off in the near future. But when they are allowed to watch a show... ahhhh... peace.
Our new house is surrounded by places we love to eat. One of which is Texas Roadhouse. So we went for dinner the other night... that place does not disappoint. For $20, our whole family eats like a king! Pete and I love sharing the chicken fried chicken. So fun.

The next morning Pete headed off to work. Pretty handsome in uniform, if I do say so myself.
We just got word that our stuff will likely be here on Saturday, which is a huge relief. I was prepared for the worst! Hopefully that actually happens and we can get settled. It still doesn't feel real that we live here. But I spent a lot of time at the house today, waiting for the cable to get installed... and the more I'm there, the more I love it. Let's just hope our stuff really does arrive and in good condition.

  1. Yay I love the updates! Does Pete wear a uniform everyday? Cool! And I'm so excited about your van! Aren't power sliding doors awesome too?! I'm so glad you got the leather and DVD player. That was something on our list when we were shopping. Yours is a Honda Odyssey though which is super nice.
