On this wonderful Easter morning, I ponder the words to the song "Because He Lives":
God sent his son
They called him Jesus
He came to love
Heal and forgive
He lived and died
To buy my pardon
An empty grave
Is there to prove
My Savior lives
Because he lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because he lives
How sweet to hold
A newborn baby
And feel the pride
And joy he gives
But greater still
The calm assurance
This child can face
Uncertain days
Just Because he lives

For some, the Sunday morning of Easter is little more than another day, but for those who believe in the resurrection of Christ, it is a most special, hopeful and sacred day. It can be hard to explain the hope and joy that came from Christ's death to a child. It's hard to explain how the painful crucifixion of the Savior is not something we need to mourn over, but instead it was a necessary event in God's plan to offer us the atonement and have the potential for resurrection just like our Savior. It is wonderful to focus on the fact that He is Risen, and we may be too, one day. As I explain this event to my boys, I find great peace in knowing that they know how much God loves them, enough to send His Son to die for them. And I love telling them how great my love is for them, and how amazing it is that God loves them even more than I do, while that seems truly impossible! Happy Easter everyone. I look forward to spending the day with my family and focusing on the great sacrifice that was made on my behalf. It's going to be a great day!
