Follow up to the birthday...

Pete had a fun birthday, if I do say so myself. On Monday he had to go to work, but was able to come home early to hang out with us. So around dinner time we went to drop off some documents at Charles Schwabb (Pete's new favorite word... Schwabb) and then headed to dinner. He probably would have picked PF Changs, but Pei Wei was easier with kids, so that had to suffice. It was delicious. Then we had some family over for brownie sundaes. Delish.

As I previously wrote about, we have been having the boys sleep in the same room at night. The first few days were smooth sailing and Parker went in quietly after Aussie was already asleep and it was great. But after a few days, Parker started acting up and would wake him up as soon as he went in. Then they would play for an hour or more and it was a mess. Also, Austin has learned that if he does a late night #2 in his diaper, he gets to get out of bed for a change. Sneaky boy. He slaps at himself and yells, "Diaper!" This evening after his diaper change, he started cuddling dad... another way to extend bedtime:)
Parker has been very into what time it is and how long things take, etc...Lo and behold, what did Chick Fil A put in their kids meal this week? A Chick fil A cow watch! Best prize ever!
Of course Austin is always there to finish up leftovers. He is a ravenous, eating machine.

"I'm sick"

If I had a nickel for every time Parker used the phrase, "I'm sick...", I would be a millionaire! Every time Parker gets in trouble I hear, "I'm sick." Every time he's tired it's, "I'm sick." Every time there's a lull in conversation he laments, "I'm sick." It's getting really old! Plus is makes it difficult when he is actually sick, to know when he's crying wolf or not. Example, a month or so ago we were driving and he said he was sick. He said his throat hurt and he was whining. Pretty typical. Then all of a sudden he starts puking everywhere. I guess he WAS sick... whoops!

Anyway, the other day I was putting him to bed for naptime and he said, "Mama, I'm sick. And I'm tired. I'm sick and tired." That kid!

Another day he was about to get in the bath, and he had his arms full of toys that were going to join him in the tub. Some toys were better suited for water than others, so I said, "Parker, that car can't go in the tub. It will get ruined." His response, "NO IT WONTTTTTTTT!!!!! Wait, what does ruined mean?" "It means broken or it won't work anymore." "Oh, got it." And then he calmly put the toy down and gave me a thumbs up.

Crossfit

A few months ago I bought a groupon for Crossfit classes. I had good intentions that this was going to be my new way of getting fit... but then I got to thinking how intense it actually is and how I don't like being told what to do when it comes to working out. I don't like being told to do three more or to run faster. So maybe Crossfit isn't a great fit for me. Instead, Pete and I started doing Insanity workouts, but those were too jump-heavy, so then we tried T25 and we are having a lot more fun. Still tough, but shorter and more feasible for our life. It's a nice way to spend time with him every morning. So, I still had this groupon to use... and then I thought... they have kids classes! So I got Parker in there last week and he loved it. They warmed up, played some tag games and then did some relays incorporating squats, situps and planks. So fun!

Nebraska fam

My cousins from Nebraska came to visit for the weekend, along with my aunt and her husband. It was so fun having them around since we only get to see them once a year (if we're lucky). We love playing scrabble together.
Parker had plenty of pitchers to satisfy his insatiable need to play baseball in the backyard.
Kelsey and austin. It was nice to see how quickly the boys warmed up to everyone.
 My boy.

Oh Austin...

Austin is such a ham and knows how to get a reaction. Here's a glimpse...

And he loves to sing, and has recently discovered the piano...

Happy birthday, Pete!

Happy birthday to my favorite guy... who is an awesome dad, hard working attorney, and a loving husband. We are so lucky he's ours. Happy birthday, Pete. Hope you feel loved!

Bite the bullet

The boys are at a fun stage of playing together and getting along 90% of the time.
And Parker is making progress, going #2 on the potty (after 5 months of being "potty trained"), so he earned his dragon. He was stoked... but apparently this was an isolated incident because he has not done it again since.
In light of all this "progress", we decided to try and put the boys in the same room. We had tried once before and it was terrible and we retreated before we really gave it a full try. But with the mindset that "the novelty will wear off", we decided to give it a go two nights ago. That first night, the boys were playing and laughing and both in Austin's bed for two hours, but eventually they did go to sleep.
The next night, we managed to get Parker into bed after austin was already asleep and it stayed that way... well until Parker started singing... then Austin started crying temporarily. But within 15 minutes they were both peacefully asleep/faking it but quietly laying there. And they slept... all night... until 7:15am! Halleluia! You know when you put off doing something because you know it's going to be rough and then it ends up not being so bad and you wondered why you waited so long. I know I'm probably jinxing myself by writing how well this went, but hey, I have to document the good times:)
